As Milton Hits, Wendover Management Steps Up To Support Residents

When Hurricane Milton hit Florida, Wendover Management showed up to help its residents in need

Altamonte Springs, FL (October 21, 2024) – In the face of unprecedented severe weather, Wendover Management, the community management division of Wendover Housing Partners, stepped up to support residents through Hurricane Milton and the recovery efforts that have followed.

“Strong communities are more than walls and roofs,” said Jonathan Wolf, Wendover founder and CEO. “They are built on connection and access to the services families need to live with safety, comfort, and dignity. This is the foundation of Wendover, and I’m proud that our teams provide this for our residents not just on their most difficult days, but every day.”

With properties across the most heavily impacted regions across Florida — including Rochester Park in Brooksville, Haley Park in Tampa, and Landings at Sea Forest in New Port Richey — Wendover staff went door to door checking on residents who opted to remain in their homes throughout the storm. Providing food, beds in safer spaces, and emotional support, team members went above and beyond to demonstrate their commitment to caring for their communities.

From ongoing power outages to delayed propane deliveries, there was no shortage of challenging conditions during and after the storm. With no access to power — meaning no elevators, among other necessities — many residents who chose to ride out the storm needed services to come to them.

“While on-site staff provided resources and support to residents, our maintenance teams were out in the storm, traveling between properties to help wherever they were needed,” explained Ricardo Alicea, Wendover VP of Asset and Community Management. “Many of our staff and their families came immediately after the storm, putting their own recovery on hold to ensure the well-being of our residents. It was all hands-on deck, and I was proud to see everyone working together to take care of our community.”

From supporting residents through catastrophic weather events to offering amenities that enable prosperous lives, Wendover continues to demonstrate that reliable and accessible housing should not be a luxury, but a human right.

“Across the country, families are facing deep-rooted, complex challenges when trying to fulfill their basic needs, including safe, affordable housing. Too many Americans struggle to access the resources they need most to thrive in even the best of times,” said Jonathan Wolf, Wendover founder and CEO. “Moments like these remind us how critical this sense of community and connection can be.”
