Riviera Beach, Palm Beach County officials mark groundbreaking of $35 million affordable apartments

Riviera Beach and Palm Beach County officials celebrated the groundbreaking Tuesday of a $35 million, 112-unit apartment complex they argue will spur the revitalization of the Broadway Avenue corridor and take a bite of the region’s massive affordable housing problem.

The importance of the project — as well as the layers of government assistance necessary to finance it — was illustrated by the large contingent of the county’s most prominent officials who gathered under a billowing tent that only partly shielded them from a light rain.
